Basford United Football Club, located in Nottinghamshire won a Budweiser Club Futures Grant of £50,000 and wished to continue their success to compete for an additional £100k ‘Super Grant’. Basford Utd FC had a small following of local fans on Twitter and needed to kick their social media presence up a gear to reach and engage with influential Twitter accounts who could help spread the word and ramp up votes for their team to win the grant.
Although Basford had a dedicated fan following on Twitter, the football team had yet to engage with influential Nottinghamshire organisations. Basford’s limited Twitter engagement resulted in an average weekly statistics of 19 @mentions, 53 re-tweets and a reach of 64.4k. So we were brought in to:

We began our Twitter campaign with an in-depth influencer portfolio research and identification process. Then through strategic targeting and @mentioning influential accounts (Nottinghamshire organisations and local footballers) as well as Hashtag research we were able to reach a substantial amount of followers with Basford’s message; resulting in traffic to the Budweiser competition’s voting page.
With the inclusion of constant monitoring, we promptly responded to fan queries; resulting in an established fan base. To extend Basford’s message to followers outside of the Nottinghamshire area, we used promoted ads through Basford’s Twitter handle to carefully target people interested in the football industry; gaining more votes for Basford Utd FC.
